The new series of the award-winning BBC1 drama Waterloo Road is back, with the teachers and students at the Rochdale comp straight into the extra-curricular drama. The new terms kicks off with fresh arrivals for both staff and students, but the bell has hardly finished ringing before the teachers are up in arms over Headteacher Karen Fisher’s controversial scheme to separate the boys and girls in order to improve grades.
The first all-boys class descends into chaos when Finn and newcomer, troublemaker, Kyle Stack, played by winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2008 George Sampson, take an instant dislike to each other.
Kyle then proves equally unpopular when he clashes with newly returned Bex Fisher (Tina O’Brien), who’s suffering from anxiety and trying to hide her recent disappearance.
New additions to the cast include Robson Green, who will play Rob Scotcher, a love interest for Karen (Amanda Burton) and Northern Lights’ Mark Benton, who will star as new maths teacher Daniel Chalk, AKA Chalkie.
Former Coronation Street actresses Poppy Jhakra and Tupele Dorgu have also joined the cast, alongside Matt Greenwood, Katie Mcglynn, Gemma Atkinson and Tel Banham.
